Zepp is a name associated with a groundbreaking wearable sensor that tracked and analyzed movement while the user exercised, resulting in a claimed 2x improvement in athletic performance as a result. This brand, recently acquired by an emerging leader in this field, Huami, has now introduced the first in a new line of wearables, the E smartwatch.
There are 2 variants of this device: the Zepp E Square and the E Circle. They boast faces completely made of 3D-curved glass that seems to leave any hint of a border for their AMOLED panels behind. The Square's display measures 1.65 inches in total, whereas that of the Circle is 1.28 inches across. They have resolutions of 348×442 and 416×416 respectively.
The Zepp E also features a blood-oxygen saturation (SpO2) monitor and sleep tracking that, according to the brand, can distinguish between different stages of this process (which it defines as "light", "deep", "Rapid Eye Movement (REM)" and "awake"). It is also rated to track and analyze daytime naps of up to 20 minutes.
The new dual-SKU smartwatch can also track 11 kinds of physical activity, including walking, indoor and outdoor running, cycling, pool swimming, climbing and skiing. It also features Huami's PAI for general health-tracking purposes. Besides this, the Zepp E can manage notifications from a smartwatch and control music via Bluetooth.
However, there is no mention of other forms of connectivity here. Each variant of the Zepp E comes in several colors and band options, including leather and fluoroelastomer. It will become available in the US from August 25, 2020, but can also be pre-ordered via the brand's website for its US$249.99 launch price.
