Watch Spotting: Eddie Murphy Wearing A Rolex Day-Date In Yellow Gold (1987) - HODINKEE

wristwatch.indah.link

While I don't know the exact reference, I do know that I've seen him wearing a few Day-Dates (plus many other watches) throughout the years. But in my opinion, this one is by far the best. And no, it doesn't tell the time in Gstaad.

If you want to tell us who else's 1980s watch you’d like us to spot, you can leave your nominee in the comments.

  • No other smartwatch on the planet comes anywhere close to selling as well as the Apple Watch and we highly doubt that will change anytime soon.
  • The Apple Watch is awesome indeed, but there are also some other options out there that you might want to check out.
  • The popular Amazfit GTS Smartwatch is a great example, offering things like Android support in addition to iPhone support, built-in sleep tracking, and impressive 14-day battery life.
  • Head over to Amazon and you’ll find Amazfit’s GTS on sale in multiple colorways for just $99.99!

For iPhone users, the Apple Watch provides an incredible integrated experience that you’ll never be able to match with a smartwatch from another brand. You’ll also find some great deals right now at Amazon if you’re in the market for a new model. Save up to $60 on the Apple Watch Series 6 in multiple color combos, up to $30 on the Apple Watch SE, or check out the Apple Watch Series 3 while it’s down to the all-time low price of just $169.

The Amazfit GTS Smartwatch is a stunning smartwatch from a brand that many of our readers will recognize. Remember the Amazfit Bip and the $70 Amazfit Bip Lite with a battery that lasts longer than a month on a single charge? This Xiaomi-backed brand has other smartwatches too, and there’s one that may be the company’s most stylish option yet.

Sure, that’s due in large part to the fact that it’s an Apple Watch copycat, but an Apple Watch that works with Android is something that plenty of people out there have been dreaming of.

Amazfit’s GTS Smartwatch has a sleek user interface that’s definitely similar to watchOS. It also has pretty much all the nifty features you might want, such as widgets, water-resistance up to 50 meters, sleep tracking, all-day heart rate monitoring, activity tracking, and more. On top of all that, the battery lasts for 14 days on a single charge. Apple’s various Apple Watch models can’t even make it two days without dying, so that’s a big advantage for Amazfit.

This is truly a terrific smartwatch, but there’s one more thing that makes now a great time to get one: It’s on sale for just $99.99 at Amazon in a bunch of different colors!

Rolex Women's World Golf Rankings Update - LPGA

wristwatch.indah.link

The Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings (WWGR) today announced a return to its “normal” historical ranking calculations beginning with tournaments staged the week of March 1, 2021. On March 20, 2020, the WWGR announced a pause in the rankings amid the global COVID-19 pandemic. On July 20, 2020, the WWGR implemented a temporary modification to the rankings to focus on the individual athlete and the weeks she competed. Under that modification, an athlete’s points and divisors did not change on weeks when she did not compete.

The WWGR Technical Committee has been monitoring this approach, tracking the frequency of play among the world’s top 400 players and the schedules of professional women’s tours globally. As tour schedules begin to normalize in comparison to previous years, the WWGR has taken the decision to resume the rankings as usual beginning this week.

What “normal” means:

  • Points and divisors change and age for all athletes
  • Points and divisors will change and age every week when an athlete competes and when she does not compete
  • Weeks when an athlete does not compete count in the 104-week rolling period
  • On weeks when no tournaments are played, the rankings continue to operate as normal, with points, divisors and rankings changing based on the 104-week rolling period for all athletes

“While it will take the rankings quite some time to level set to all athletes having the same 104-week period,” said Heather Daly-Donofrio, executive director of the WWGR, “The WWGR Board remains confident that this was the most fair way to manage the rankings and the athletes during this time. While there is no perfect solution, we believe we have followed an approach that is reasonable for athletes and also protects the integrity of the ranking system.”

From Vintage Rolex to Cartier: The Best Luxury Watches at the Golden Globes - Robb Report

wristwatch.indah.link

Call it self-awareness, sensitivity to the moment or both, but none of the stylish gents in attendance at Sunday night’s Golden Globes accessorized their tuxedos with a particularly flashy watch. Don’t get us wrong, the timepieces on display were unquestionably luxurious examples of hardworking horology. But a vintage gold Rolex Submariner, a la Justin Theroux, is hardly on the order of the $1 million diamond-covered work of extravagance Nick Jonas wore to last year’s ceremony.

That might be because of the casual and somewhat restrained nature of the 2021 proceedings. With a live audience full of essential workers, thanked profusely by winners and presenters alike for their efforts to combat the pandemic, and hoodie-clad A-listers Zooming in from their homes, the event often felt more like an after-work virtual happy hour than a full-throated awards season show. So perhaps donning the kind of watches that feel approachable to those who aren’t quite masters of the universe yet was the right move.

From Dan Levy’s classic Cartier Santos to Leslie Odom Jr.’s Bulgari Octo Roma, here are the high-end (but not astronomical) watches at the 2021 Golden Globes.

Dan Levy — Cartier Santos

Levy’s ultra-modern, day-glow yellow look from Valentino Couture found a classic counterpoint in the stainless steel Cartier Santos watch on his wrist. The Santos, a descendant of what some consider the world’s original wristwatch, is exactly the kind of grounded throwback a bold menswear move like this needs.

Leslie Odom Jr. — Bulgari Octo Roma

The One Night in Miami star also donned Valentino—and accessorized his look with stainless steel and rose gold Bulgari Octo Roma on a brown alligator-skin strap. Like many of the other nominees and presenters, Odom Jr. sent in some images of himself to make up for the absence of a red carpet.

Nicholas Hoult — Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso

The star of The Great chose a Jaeger LeCoultre Reverso, a horological classic if there ever was one, to complement his double-breasted velvet tuxedo from Giorgio Armani. When the next post-vaccine gala season rolls around, don’t be surprised if you see young donors accessorizing their formalwear with sharp t-shirts, too.

Josh O’Connor — Bulgari Octo Finissimo

The actor, who won Best Performance by an Actor in a Television Series for his stint as Prince Charles in The Crown, paired his Loewe look with a restrained and supremely thin stainless steel watch from Bulgari’s Octo Finnisimo line.

Justin Theroux — Rolex Submariner

Justin Theroux’s gold Rolex Submariner, paired with trimly tailored Yves Saint Laurent and jewelry from Cartier, was reportedly made in 1971—the same year he was born. There’s a romantic quality to owning a watch that’s been ticking as long as you have, which might make it one of our favorites from the evening.

This upcoming smartwatch will have an in-depth soccer tracking mode - TechRadar

wristwatch.indah.link

When we first heard about the Nubia Red Magic Watch, we presumed it was a gaming-themed smartwatch - that would keep it in fitting with Red Magic's gaming niche. However, a new confirmed feature shows it could be great for soccer players.

Nubia president Ni Fei has been teasing the Red Magic Watch frequently on his Weibo account (a Chinese social media platform) so we know lots of details from that, but this new piece of information was reported by GizChina.

The Red Magic Watch is apparently set to have a mode that tracks you through a match of the game, and will provide you with a heat map of your performance, including details like where you ran for the match, and the conditions of the game.

This isn't the first soccer mode we've seen as Google Fit has an option for tracking your performance for the game, but it only captures limited statistics like time and heart rate. Red Magic's mode sounds like the first really in-depth soccer-focused tracking software we've seen.

Other sports modes?

We've heard the Nubia Red Magic Watch will have a grand total of 16 sports tracking modes including soccer, basketball and cricket, as well as the standard ones you see on most smartwatches like running, swimming and cycling.

Could these other ball game modes return as detailed information as the soccer tracking? Possibly, but it hasn't been confirmed for now either way.

The watch is waterproof up to 50 meters, useful for swimmers (the swim-tracking modes would be a little useless otherwise), and has a battery life of 15 days, though we'd imagine daily soccer games could drain it a bit faster than that.

We're expecting the Nubia Red Magic Watch to formally launch on March 4, alongside the Red Magic 6 gaming smartphone, and when it does we'll bring you all the details on this curious new device.
