OnePlus Watch was launched alongside the OnePlus 9 series last month, and it packs a design that could be liked by many. However, there are a few things where the OnePlus Watch didn't impress us, and we have talked in detail about everything in our review. But this is also a long read. So, if you want some key takeaways around the OnePlus Watch, it comes with a circular dial that looks bold, slightly feels heavy on the wrist, comes with tons of health-related features, offers impressive battery life, but the OS is a big limitation.
There are a few more shortcomings that we came across around the OnePlus Watch. Here's a quick recap of the OnePlus Watch review in five points that will be handy for you if you are short on time.
Point 1: The OnePlus Watch has been launched in a single circular dial design that measures 46mm, which could be huge for some users. It feels heavier on the wrist as well. The watch case, however, feels durable and has a reasonable premium finish. The OnePlus Watch comes with a Fluoroelastomer strap which we feel is decent for daily wear. If looks matter to you, then OnePlus Watch should appeal to you. It comes in Midnight Black and Moonlight Silver colours.
Point 2: One of the biggest highlights of the OnePlus Watch is its battery life. It sets a benchmark for premium wearables that are available at higher price points. During the review, the OnePlus Watch delivered a solid battery back of 3 days with a smartphone connected throughout the period. The smartwatch also supports fast charging that can charge the smartwatch from 0 to 50 per cent charge in less than 30 minutes, and that's incredible.
Point 3: Another factor favouring the new OnePlus Watch is its tons of fitness tracking features. It comes with IP68 certification and supports over 110 workouts with automatic workout detection for running and a few other exercises. Right from blood oxygen to real-time heart rate monitoring, the wearable packs all modern-day features. However, during the review, we found some of the readings to be slightly off compared to other wearables. In the case of the blood oxygen monitor, we found that OnePlus Watch readings are quite different from what Apple Watch Series 6 readings showed or what a pulse oximeter reading showed. We hope that OnePlus can fix this via software update.
Point 4: The OnePlus Watch does lack in one big aspect, and that's software. The smartwatch is running RTOS, which is an all-new UI developed by the company for its first-ever smartwatch. However, we found that is quite limited, to say the least. It comes with a limited selection of watch faces, and there's no way to control music on your phone if you're streaming it via a third-party music player app like Spotify.
Point 5: The OnePlus Watch as an overall package does feel slightly less appealing than other rivals in the sub-Rs 20,000 price segment. It feels like a very bold watch but one that misses some very basic touches in terms of software and even health tracking. We hope that the company fix the software in the upcoming months to improve the wearable to some extent. We also feel that OnePlus should have launched the smartwatch in 42mm as well. The 46mm dial does feel bigger at times.
