Noise Colourfit Pro 3 review: Good smartwatch with minor hiccups - India Today

Emerging wearables brand Noise had launched a new smartwatch under the Colourfit Pro series—the Colourfit Pro 3. The smartwatch comes with a bigger and better display, a few extra modes and many health-tracking features, including heart rate monitoring, SpO2, Sleep, & Stress Monitor and more.

The wearables market is expanding rapidly, with almost every smartphone taking a stab at making smartwatches, smart bands. While some are ridiculously overpriced, brands like Noise, Amazfit, Realme, and more bring the features of high-end smartwatches without costing a fortune. The Noise Colorfit Pro was launched at Rs 3999 in India. The smartwatch includes some of the necessary features of a smartwatch like blood oxygen monitor, heart rate monitor, stress calculator and more. But are these reasons enough for you to buy this? Let us explore in the review.

Noise Colourfit Pro 3 Review: Design

The Noise Colourfit Pro 3 has taken major cues from the Apple Watch, which almost all the smartwatch manufacturers are doing. Sticking to Apple's prototype, the Colourfit Pro features a square-shaped 1.55-inch touchscreen HD display with a resolution of 320x360 pixels. The display has thin bezels around the corners but has a thick chin. However, despite that, it is big enough to get the job done. The viewing angles are great too.

Now coming to the watch case, it is made up of plastic which does not feel sturdy. For review, I got the Smoke Gre variant with a silver watch case. While you might assume that it is aluminium because of the impression it gives, let me tell you that it is not. The plastic case has been painted, which also raises questions about the longevity of the paint. We do not know how soon the paint will wear off. It could also get triggered by occasional smudges and scratches. Overall, it does feel plasticky and not posh when you look at it.

There is one physical button provided on the right for UI navigation. Interestingly, the button is not made up of plastic, but it is made up of aluminium. You could use the button to browse the menu and select different activity modes. The same button can be used to get back to the main screen. The button offers decent tactile feedback. However, it makes a clicky sound that does not feel very premium.

The smartwatch has been launched in interesting colour options Jet Black, Jet Blue, Rose Pink, Rose Red, Smoke Green and Smoke Grey. The watch comes with detachable silicone straps. The watch is pretty light, and the straps are comfortable to put on for long hours. I don't feel itchy even after wearing it continuously for days.

However, one of the concerns that I have with the strap is that it is not suitable for people with slim wrists. There are not enough holes to tighten the grip. So if you want the straps to hold your wrist firmly, you will have to get a few more holes to tighten the strap on your wrist. During the entire duration that I had the watch on, it did not sit stably on my wrist, which is, after a point, a little discomforting because then I spent time adjusting the watch in the right position. You could also get a third-party strap with a better grip or metal straps that can be adjustable.

Noise uses a proprietary magnetic charger for the Colorfit Pro 3, and the pins are at the rear of the watch case. It is quite easy to plug in and charge the smartwatch without meddling with the straps or the case.

Noise Colourfit Pro 3 Review: Performance

The Noise Colourfit Pro 3 comes with a bigger and brighter display with multiple watch faces. There are only three to four inbuilt watch faces, but you could download more after connecting the watch to the Noise app. The watch is compatible with Android and iOS devices, so pairing up would not be an issue. The watch comes with various sensors, including the accelerometer, gyroscope, and optical heart rate sensor.

Although I do not have a medical-grade device to determine the heart rate sensor's accuracy or the blood oxygen sensor, I tallied the results with two other smartwatches that I have, and it was more or less accurate. There was a minor difference of 1 or 2 points occasionally, but that was it. Then there are usual fitness activities that you can track using the smartwatch. There is an option to track outdoor as well as indoor walking and running. So considering the ongoing pandemic, it would be better to stay indoors and workout. This watch can track your indoor activities too. Not just walking, the smartwatch comes with almost 14 sports modes that include Yoga, swimming, cycling, hiking. Most of the modes could not be tested due to the coronavirus pandemic, but I felt that the watch calculates little extra steps while walking. Maybe an update can fix that.

Apart from the fitness activity trackers, there is a special mode to facilitate breathing exercise, has a sleep monitor to track your sleep, and it can also measure your stress levels. The sleep tracker is fairly accurate and helps one in improving their sleep pattern. You can also control the music being played on your smartphone from your watch. The touch interface is pretty smooth so that you can swing between modes and screens without any hassles.

The watch comes with four brightness modes and can get extremely bright even under direct sunlight when you hit the number four. So all is well on that end.

One of the issues that I found with the watch is that it connects and disconnects automatically. Every time the watch connects or disconnects with the smartphone, it vibrates. So the connectivity is not very stable, and it takes a while to reconnect. Due to this issue, sometimes the notifications from the smartphone are not delivered to the watch.

Now coming to the battery, the smartwatch houses a 210mAh battery under the hood, which, in my opinion, is smaller considering the screen size it comes with. The smartwatch struggled to last me a week which is a tad disappointing. In a smartwatch, one really looks forward to a battery that lasts at least 10 days, but this one didn't.

Noise Colourfit Pro 3 Review: Should you buy it?

If you are looking for a smartwatch with a big display and has a heart rate tracker, oxygen level monitor and other sensors, you could totally give the Noise Colourfit Pro 3 a shot. This watch comes with a vibrant screen and interesting colour options. You could also use the straps of your choice because it is detachable. The battery is not one of the pluses of the smartwatch, but it is not a disadvantage either. The price could have been lower considering now we have the smartwatches that offer almost the same features at a much lesser price, like the Boat flash or the Boat storm.

The Amazfit BIP U, which I consider the best smartwatch under Rs 4,000, is also priced at Rs 3499. However, the display of the Amazfit watch is smaller than the Colourfit Pro 3, so you have a reason to grab the Colourfit Pro if you are a fan of big and vibrant displays.

Noise Colourfit Pro 3 review 7.5/10
