COVID-19 has taken its toll on many industries, and the arts—an industry reliant on human contact and one which is already underfunded—is not nearly immune from this pandemic. As a company built on the foundations of artistry, Rolex has been involved in worldwide artistic development for over half a century and is not taking a backseat when the arts needs support the most. The watchmaker is launching an initiative to support musicians and singers during this critical period. Starting on August 21, three Rolex “Perpetual Music” concerts featuring a total of 100 artists, whose livelihoods have been adversely affected by COVID-19, will take place in Italy, Germany and France and be broadcasted live around the world.
Every artist involved in these concerts has been handpicked by four Rolex Testimonees in the field of music, who will also be performing. Find out more about these maestros and songstresses and their showtimes below.
Three Sensational Performances
One of today's most celebrated tenors, Peruvian Juan Diego Flórez has been a Rolex Testimonee since 2015 and is known for this expressive singing and virtuosity. He will be streaming from the Teatro Rossini in Pesaro on Friday, August 21 (August 22 for Thailand) with an orchestra.
On Tuesday, September 1 (September 2 for Thailand), Sonya Yoncheva will take the stage from the Berlin Staatsoper. The renowned Bulgarian-Swiss operatic soprano, who is in constant demand at the world's greatest opera houses joined the Rolex family in 2011.
Last but not least, on Thursday, September 3 (September 4 for Thailand), French violinist Renaud Capuçon and yet another critically-acclaimed, globally sought out tenor Rolando Villazon—both, of course, Rolex Testimonees—will be performing together from the equally legendary Opéra national de Paris (Palais Garnier).
