Six-time LPGA Tour winner is the third American to reach World No. 1 and first since 2014

DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (June 28, 2021) – For the first time in her career, Nelly Korda has reached No. 1 in the Rolex Women’s World Golf Rankings following her win at the 2021 KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She becomes the third American to sit atop the Rolex Rankings, joining Stacy Lewis (four weeks in 2013 and 21 weeks in 2014) and Cristie Kerr (five weeks in 2010).

Korda, 22, jumped two spots to World No. 1, moving past Jin Young Ko and Inbee Park, another former World No. 1. Ko had held the No. 1 position since July 28, 2019, a streak of 701 consecutive days.

“Reaching World No. 1 has always been a goal of mine, and I can’t believe that I’ve actually done it. The other players who have been No. 1 are incredible and I’m honored to join that list,” said Korda. “I couldn’t have done with this without so much support from my family, my caddie, my sponsors and my entire team, not to mention all the fans who support me every week.

Korda has three victories so far in 2021, coming at the Gainbridge LPGA, the Meijer LPGA Classic and the KPMG Women’s PGA Championship. She became a Rolex First-Time Winner when she won the 2018 Taiwan Swinging Skirts LPGA and successfully defended that title in 2019. Korda also earned victory at the 2019 ISPS Handa Women’s Australian Open, joining her sister Jessica, who won that title in 2012.

Korda currently leads the LPGA with a 68.857 scoring average and is atop the Rolex Player of the Year standings with 161 points. Her eight top-10 finishes, including her LPGA Tour-leading three victories, are the most on Tour through 15 events. Korda leads the Tour with 200 birdies and 25 rounds in the 60s, and is tied for first in eagles with nine, including two during the final round of her KPMG Women’s PGA victory. She is expected to represent the United States at the Tokyo Olympics in August.

Ko’s streak of 100 consecutive weeks at No. 1 in the Rolex Rankings is the third-longest streak in history, following Lorena Ochoa’s 158 weeks (April 23, 2007, to May 2, 2010) and Yani Tseng’s 109 weeks (Feb. 14, 2011, to March 17, 2013).
