On his wrist for the winning putt was a throwback watch – a white dial Rolex Cellini from the late 90s/early 2000s on a brown leather strap. Mickelson wearing a Rolex isn't news (he's a brand ambassador) and a Cellini is also par for the course as he's been known to sport various models on leather straps – save for the occasional rose gold Yacht-Master. But this watch is different. And Mickelson didn't just wear this older model to hold the trophy – he played in it.
The watch appears to be a reference 4233, white dial variant, in 18k white gold, with an Arabic numeral dial. At 34mm, it's on the smaller side but white dials always wear larger. The concentric dial configuration is reminiscent of mid-2000s Rolex Datejust design and really dresses down the watch. This is not a watch we see every day, and it must have particular significance to Mickelson since golfers typically wear current-production watches. If this piece is some kind of good luck charm for him, it performed admirably this weekend.
