Turns out ex stole woman’s $7K Rolex watch

A Royal Oak woman who reported her $7,000 Rolex watch was stolen from the glove box of her car last week now got it back Wednesday, police said.

Royal Oak police started an investigation after the diamond watch was reported stolen July 22 from the woman’s car outside her apartment in the 900 block of Stephenson Highway.

The woman named her ex-boyfriend as a possible suspect.

Police on Monday left a voice message with the man asking him to contact the police department.

Police said they didn’t hear back from the man, but the woman contacted them Wednesday to report the watch had been returned and she didn’t want to pursue larceny charges against the suspect.

She did not tell police any details of how the watch was returned to her.
